さて須賀神社は東京四谷の18町内を抱える総鎮守であることから、それぞれの氏子らが交代で神輿渡御を行います。交代しながらの神輿渡御は「本社神輿渡御」と呼ばれており、各町内の氏子らの熱い連携が見られます。「おいさぁ！おいさぁ！」「ほいさぁ！ほいさぁ！」の掛け声で男女共に気持ちを一つにしながら重い神輿を担ぐ様子に見物客も心が滾ります。動画から分かりますように、担ぎ棒を首の後ろに置く「四ッ谷担ぎ」で渡御が行われます。しかし必ずしも四ッ谷担ぎで渡御をしなければならない訳でもなく、肩と腕で神輿を支える江戸前担ぎをする担ぎ手も見られるのです。

さて須賀神社前には階段があるのですが、重い神輿を担いで登るにはかなり大変。担ぎ手も宮入り前に神輿を落としてしまわないよう、１歩ずつ着実に進んでいきます。この時ばかりは担ぎ手らの表情がかなり険しくなり、和やかな雰囲気は立ち消えてしまいます。

それでも最後の力を振り絞って、「おいさぁ！おいさぁ！」の掛け声を上げながら宮入りをするのです。宮入り後は神輿渡御を成し遂げた達成感から境内には笑顔がたくさん見られ、集まった氏子らと観客の全員で祭りの成功を喜び合います。
