さて千住天王祭の一番の見どころは、本社大神輿を左右に荒々しく振る神輿振りでしょう。これでもか！とまでに左右に神輿を振りますので、口をあんぐり開けてビックリしている見物客も見られます。一般的な神輿の担ぎ棒は十字型に組み合わせた四本なのに対して、千住天王祭の本社大神輿には長さ8.1メートルの二天棒(二本の担ぎ棒)しか設けられていないのです。その上、重さは千貫と非常に重く、バランスを上手に保つのが難しいです。神輿振りの様子はまるで御祭神の素盞雄大神の逸話を体現しているかのようでしょう。

そして本社大神輿を渡御する担ぎ手には制約がありまして、南千住三之輪・三河島・町屋の三地区の若者しか担ぐことが許されていません。確かに動画や画像を確認しますと、担ぎ手が若者ばかりとなっていることが分かります。また女性や年少者も除外されます。しかし祭りを楽
しみたい女性や年少者でも神輿を担げるよう、1995年に本社中神輿、2008年に本社子供神輿が作られました。
