さて寄居秋祭りでは2日間に渡って7台の山車渡御が行われます。ルートは初日に宗像神社から市街地に、最終日は市街地から宗像神社へ還御して祭りが終わりです。山車渡御は各町(本町、中町、栄町、武町、茅町、宮本、常木)で特色がある所が寄居秋祭りの最大の見どころでもあります。それぞれに諌鼓鶏(カンコドリ)、野猿、猩々などの人形が載せられているので、どこの町の山車か一目で分かるでしょう。

特に茅町の諌鼓鶏が載る山車は、1974年に寄居町重要文化財に指定されて大切に保管されています。さらに最古と言われているのが武町の野猿が載る山車なのだそう。山車の上に人形が載っていることが当たり前のように感じられますが、祭りの継承の途中で一時はそうでなかったことがありました。実は平成からさかのぼること大正時代、暮らしの変化から電線が張り巡らされる箇所が増加したことが原因で、2004年頃まで人形が山車から下ろされていたこともあります。現在は嬉しくも祭りの華として復活を遂げています。

さらに全ての山車に人形が載せられていないということもご存じでしたでしょうか？実は宮本と常木の山車には人形ではなく”笠鉾”が載せられているんですね。山車人形は祭りに華を添える存在でもありますが、山車の飾りや職人の塗りなどの見どころもあります。各町の山車渡御をぜひご鑑賞ください。[:en]Yorii Akimatsuri is a festival to be held in Yorii City, Saitama Prefecture. Did you know that there are no dolls on all the floats? Actually Miyamoto and Tsunagi ‘s floats are not dolls but “Kasakaba” are on it. Float dolls are also present to add festivals to festivals, but there are also places of interest such as decorations of floats and craftsmen.
