[:ja]宮城県の帆手祭(ほてまつり)は、江戸時代から続く火伏のお祭で、古くから荒神輿として有名で、重さ約1トンの神輿を16名の若者にかつがれて、202段もの急な表参道(通称、男坂)を下り、市内を巡行するお祭です。


奥州一宮の鹽竈神社における早春の神事が、日本三大荒神輿と呼ばれる鹽竈神社帆手祭。元々は正月の神輿洗神事で、火伏祭として始まったものだが、後年海にゆかりのある「帆手祭(ほてまつり)」と呼ばれるようになり、現在では厄除け、繁栄も祈念して、神輿が市内を御神幸する。

500人を超えるきらびやかなお供、稚児行列を従えた市内の御神幸など、港町塩竈が一日中活気にあふれ、市民にとっては、春の風物詩となっており華やかなお祭りだ。
