[:ja]天神祭は大阪府大阪市で開催されるお祭りです。日本三大祭りとしても知られており、京都府の祇園祭や東京都の山王祭と肩を並べています。天神祭が開催される大阪天満宮では学問の神様「菅原道真」を奉っており、縁結び・学業成就・無病息災のご利益があります。大阪府民からは「天満(てんま)の天神さん」の愛称で親しまれています。

さて天神祭の起源ははるか昔951年の平安時代に遡ります。天神祭が開催される大阪天満宮の前には大川が流れていました。その社頭の浜から神鉾を流しまして、たどり着いた先の場所を御神霊が宿る斎場としました。この時に数多くの船が御神霊を出迎えたことが天神祭(船渡御)の始まりとされています。祭はさらに続き歴史を重ね、天下人豊臣秀吉の時代になると以前に比べて船の数がさらに増えまして、次第に現在のような船渡御が形成されていったとの記録があります。現在の鉾流神事でも堂島川から斎船に乗った神童が鉾を、神職が祓物を流します。水に流すという動作は人々に降りかかる災難を流すことを表しています。

煌びやかな御鳳輦に菅原道真公の御神霊を移したら、神輿は大阪天満宮を後にして陸渡御が始まります。陸渡御は担ぎ手の「ソーレ」という掛け声で進み、訪れた見物人の視線を集めます。その前方では赤い頭巾を被った「願人｣が催太鼓を打ちならす「からうす」を行い、御鳳輦や猿田彦、神鉾、地車らが大川を目指して勇壮に街を練り歩きます。

そうして大川までたどり着いた御鳳輦一行は天神橋周辺から船渡御を行うのです。船渡御では神様を乗せた奉安船と催太鼓やお囃子を乗せた供奉船が水上をゆるやかに進んでいきます。最終日夜には美しく豪快な花火が奉納され、大阪の夜空を華やかに彩って天神祭は終わります。打ち上げられる花火の数は約5,000発に及びますので、ぜひ大阪にてご鑑賞ください。
