[:ja]小田原ちょうちん夏祭りは神奈川県小田原市で開催されるお祭りです。さて現在の神奈川県小田原市には、五街道は東海道五十三次の宿場である小田原宿がありました。また小田原ちょうちんは神奈川県の小田原が発祥の伝統工芸品でもあり、当時の旅人にとって人気商品でした。一般的なちょうちんは中心部に膨らみがあるのに対し、小田原ちょうちんはスッキリした円筒形。実は小田原ちょうちんにはある工夫がされていまして、上下のフタに蛇腹の本体を収納できるようになっているんですね。工夫のおかげでコンパクトに携帯出来るなど、遠距離を移動する旅人のニーズにマッチしていました。さらに大雄山最乗寺の神木が材料に用いられている宣伝も行われ、化け物・悪霊の存在が恐れられていた時代には抜群のセールスでした。しかし現在は需要が低迷し、小田原ちょうちんを作る職人が激減しているそうです。そのため将来的には小田原ちょうちんが作られなくなる可能性も否定できません。

さて小田原ちょうちん夏祭りでは約20以上もの団体が参加する自治体みこしパレードも行われるんですよね。担ぎ手の数は約1,500人に達することから規模は大きいです。会場の小田原城址公園から出発した神輿は市内を回り、気持ちを一つにしながら進んでいきます。途中で「どっこい！どっこい！」と威勢の良い掛け声が聞こえますが、これは甚句に合わせてどっこい神輿が行われている最中です。小田原流や江戸前流もありますので、一緒に掛け声を上げてみてはいかがでしょうか？嬉しいことに担ぎ手を募集する自治体もありまして、当日にパレードに参加したいという方は各自治体のサイトをチェックしてみてください。
