[:ja]八雲神社例大祭は神奈川県鎌倉市で開催されるお祭りです。八雲神社は大町に鎮座しているので、大町まつりと呼ばれることもあります。地元の方からは八雲さん、須佐乃雄命が主祭神なので天王さんと親しまれています。当時鎌倉では流行り病が蔓延していて、死亡者をこれ以上増やさないため、源義光が永保年間に京都祇園神社を勧請したことが八雲神社の創建の運びとなりました。また現在の社殿は1930年に再建されており、その7年前の1923年には関東大震災により社殿が倒壊しています。

さて八雲神社例大祭は三日間に渡って開催され、初日早朝には神社に掲げるホンダワラを氏子代表が材木座の海に取りに行きます。ホンダワラとは海草の一種で、おめでたい縁起物とされています。午後からは神幸祭の神輿渡御がスタート。先頭はお囃子と大太鼓、そして対の高張り提灯に猿田彦、神輿が四基続きます。赤の飾り紐が鮮やかな二天棒の神輿は、白丁に烏帽子姿の男性しか担げないしきたりです。また渡御の途中では運に恵まれましたら、神輿くぐりが見られるでしょう。神輿くぐりとは一歳未満の子どもを抱き、神輿の下をくぐる子どもの健やかな成長を願う習わしです。

渡御が一段落した夜には神輿ぶりが披露されます。大町四ツ角周辺で神輿が四基横並びになりまして、迫力もありながらも心が洗われる風景です。この神輿ぶりは参加者全員が厄を祓い、幸福がもたらされる有難い行事なのでぜひ参加してみてはいかがでしょうか?
